Here, I have listed some of the best stoner movies you can watch that will be guaranteed to keep you entertained and make you feel excited about smoking weed. The movies mentioned are really fun to watch while high and somewhat related to cannabis and people who smoked them so you will find some of it relatable.

In this article, we are not just going to talk about some good stoner movies of all time but also a few cannabis documentaries that you need to see at least once if you call yourself a true stoner, plus they are a real masterpiece.

How High (2001)

How High is a stoner comedy film about 2 guys who smoked weed that was fertilized with their dead nerdy friend’s ashes and after smoking, they started seeing the ghost of their dead friend who helps them cheat on their tests. They got perfect scores on their THC (a parody of SAT) and a scholarship to Harvard and things got very interesting.

This is a super funny stoner movie starring Method Man and Redman, if you haven’t seen it already, you should. 

There is also a sequel to this movie called How High 2 starring Lil Yachty and D.C. Young Fly, which in my opinion is not as good as the first one but still a pretty good stoner movie to watch.

Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle (2004)

Harold and Kumar go to White Castle is an ultimate stoner film that follows 2 friends  Harold and Kumar (played by John Cho and Kal Penn) who got really high, saw an ad for white castle burgers, and went on a very interesting journey of munchies to get their burgers. 

This munchie hunt movie has a horny Neil Patric Harris, Ryan Renolds, a raccoon, a cheetah, more marijuana-smoking dudes, racist cops, and a satisfying ending, what more do you want.

There are also 2 sequels to this movie called Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay (2008) and A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas (2011), and they are also pretty good. You can even do a stoner movie marathon with them.

Grandma’s Boy (2006)

Grandma’s Boy is one of the grossest stoner comedy movie on the list, following a pot-smoking video game tester Alex (played by Allen Covert) who got homeless and had to live with his wacky grandma and her elderly roommates but this puts a damper on his social and love life. 

There is a scene in this movie where elderly ladies eat a bunch of pot brownies and get insanely high, which was super fun to watch.

This stoner comedy movie has a crazy amount of weed, a single cannabis-smoking homeless dude in his 30s who is trying to figure out his life, crazy sex with old ladies (this is the grossest part), and a satisfying ending.

Smiley Face (2007)

Smiley Face is a female stoner comedy film starring Anna Farris as Jane. Jane is a typical stoner who accidentally eats a whole bunch of her roommates’ Pot infused cupcakes, got super stoned, made some bad decisions, and went off a series of misadventures.  

This is a super fun stoner movie that you can watch while high. Watch it on Amazon Prime.

Super High Me (2007)

Super High Me is a documentary film starring famous stoner comedian Doug Benson who went sober for 30 days and then smoked a crazy amount of weed for 30 days straight to explore what happens to the human body when it got overdosed on weed.

He interviewed celebrities like Zach Galifianakis and Bob Odenkirk in the documentary and even took a bunch of tests before and after to see the changes pot has caused.

Pineapple Express (2008)

Pineapple Express is one of the greatest stoner movies out there, starring Seth Rogan, James Franco, and a particular strain of cannabis called Pineapple Express.

In the movie, Dale (Seth Rogan) is a lazy process server, and his weed dealer friend Saul (James Franco) witnesses a murder and fled from the scene but accidentally left a super rare cannabis strain called Pineapple Express, and now they are hunted by hitmen and corrupt cops.

This movie become so famous amongst the stoners, that there is a real cannabis strain called Pineapple Express out there which was named after the movie, how cool is that.

Our Idiot Brother (2011)

Our Idiot Brother is a stoner film starting Paul Rudd as Ned, who got arrested for selling cannabis to a uniformed police officer, when Ned got paroled his girlfriend left him and he had to live with his sisters while creating chaos and breaking the pretentious stigma of their lives and changing it for the worst or better. 

This movie is a fun-to-watch stoner movie that clearly portrays how a homeless stoner Ned has a better understanding of life than everyone around him.

Ted (2012)

Ted is a stoner bromance vs romance movie featuring Seth MacFarlane as Ted (a Teddy Bear that came to life) and Mark Wahlberg as John Bennett and Mila Kunis as Lori (John’s girlfriend). 

In the movie, Ted came to life 30 years ago when John wished for it, from there on they became best friends. Now, Ted and John are adults and spend their time smoking weed and drinking beer while causing all sorts of troubles in their life and relationship.

There is a sequel to this called Ted 2 (2015) which is also a fun-to-watch movie while High.

American Ultra (2015)

American Ultra is a movie about a guy Mike Howell (played by Jesse Eisenberg) who is a simple stoner that works in a convenience store and lives with his girlfriend(played by Kristen Stewart). One night he was visited by a strange lady in a suit who says a bunch of codes to him which turns him into a killing machine while changing his life completely for the worst or better.

This is an action-comedy stoner movie that you can watch while high.

The Legend of 420 (2017)

The Legend of 420 is a documentary about cannabis and how it’s evolved in years, It also portrays how the legalities of cannabis have been changed, and how it became legal in most of the states in the U.S. 

The documentary also includes various interviews with cops, politicians, cannabis activists, cannabis growers, and more.

Grow House is a buddy comedy stoner movie about two stoners, Pat (DeRay Davis) and Darius (Lil Duval) who are broke and had an idea to grow weed to clear off their loans, but they only know how to smoke weed, but not how to grow it. And, yes there is Snoop Dog in the movie.

It’s a super funny stoner film that you can watch with your friends while getting high.

Dude (2018)

Dude is a stoner movie that was literally released on 4/20 on Netflix, The movie starring Lucy Hale, Awkwafina, Kathryn Prescott, and Alexandra Shipp as Lily, Rebecca, Chole, and Amelia, They are four high school friends who spend most of their time smoking weed, fooling around, talking about relationships, boys, proms, and dealing with stuff. 

In the movie, the girls have a donkey-kong shaped bong named Donkey Bong that they are really closed to.

Weed the People (2018)

Weed the People is another netflix documentary on our list that portrays the struggle of parents who are using marijuana for the treatment and pain management of their children with cancer and the legal and technical barriers the family faced to acquiring medicinal cannabis for their children.

This emotional documentary also exposes the propaganda and hypocrisy of the country’s law and politics, and big pharmaceutical companies regarding the research and usage of Cannabis.
