Entourage Effect

« Back to Glossary Index

The entourage effect is a phenomenon that occurs when various compounds present in the hemp plant work together synergistically to enhance the overall therapeutic effects of the plant. These compounds include cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and other phytochemicals.

The concept of the entourage effect suggests that the combined action of multiple compounds produces effects that are greater than the sum of their individual effects. In other words, the whole plant extract can be more effective than isolated compounds alone.

For example, cannabinoids such as THC and CBD have been extensively studied for their potential therapeutic benefits. However, research suggests that when these cannabinoids are consumed together, along with other similar compounds, they can produce more pronounced effects and have a broader range of therapeutic applications.
